I always have a good habit of when I am leaving a bus, a restaurant or a business to say thank you and have a nice day/afternoon/evening.
I see so many people just walk off without saying a word and I am beginning to see this as something that is extremely rude.
We so quickly forget that we maybe entertaining angels. Jesus explains that the way we treat the ‘least of these’- really anybody in general is the way we treat Him.
I know the bus driver who takes me to work quite well (over 10 years)- but today I went the extra mile of walking up to the front of the bus and telling him ‘ Thank You ‘ to brighten his day, after seeing 2 passengers just barrel off the bus without a word.
The book of Mark expands and encapsulates what Jesus really commissioned and the method in that this was to be done.Mark 16 vs 15 to 20-NIV.
Mk 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.
16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” Mk 16:19 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. 20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.
Being the Sign Post
Here, Jesus is explaining that we are to be the sign posts to him in miracles and wonders to confirm his word. The commission moves further than just salvation into carrying on Jesus’ work through the power of the Holy Spirit.
We are to take this on boldly- with the only fear being the fear of God- not of man or beast.
There are many that do not believe that miracles and wonders exist in the present day and that they belonged only to the early church, or they don’t believe at all.
Yet, if we look closely, verse 17 shows that the signs accompany those who believe.
And that goes for any troubled time that may fall our way.
God is a God of Signs and Miracles and for order for us to be like His Son- we must be a people of Signs and Miracles to help guide others to God beyond just plain salvation.
This is the basis of impartation, and the catalyst of more than salvation-the means of its continuation.
It is also the basis of Faith- Miracles and Signs are the tangible release of God’s power on the earth.
We can see a connection to this in James 5 vs 13 to 20.
The key to God’s power is prayer, worship and confessing our sins.
Not praying and worshipping is like saying we don’t believe and that we can do it all for ourselves.
By not confessing, we are dismissing the sin offering that Jesus provided for us- back to that essence that is the root of belief.

Is Relationship being overswept by Religion in todays society with the Church, including the Pastors, Elders and Trustees being too content with the status quo?
